China Cosco Holdings swung to a net loss in 2009, as the global financial crisis reduced demand for its energy-related bulk and container-shipping services, Dow Jones reported.

The Beijing-based shipping company said its net loss for the 12 months ended December 31 was US$1.1 billion, according to Chinese accounting standards, reversing from a net profit of $1.6 billion in 2008.
