Nigeria's West Africa Container Terminal (WACT) at the port of Onne saw container volumes jump 18% year-on-year in May.
APM Terminals, which operates the facility, said the jump in volumes was evidence that West Africa was setting the pace of global economic recovery.
The operator pointed out the April 2010 World Economic Outlook, released by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), projects emerging economies will grow at an annual rate of 6.3% in 2010.
