The Association of American Railroads (AAR) has reported that intermodal US rail freight traffic continues to grow, with weekly carload volumes at their highest level since November 2008.
During the week ending 29 May, Intermodal traffic totalled 225,111 trailers and containers, up 35.5% on last year and 10.3% on 2008.
Compared with the same week in 2009, container volumes increased 37.5%, while trailer volumes rose 25.2%. In comparison to 2008, container volumes were up 19.4%.
