Feeder operators complain of high call charges at Kochi
  Date:06/07/10  |  From:cargonewsasia  |  Click:

The Asian Feeder Discussion Group, representing the feeder vessel companies operating out of Singapore, has conveyed its concern at what it called the high call charges for such vessels at the Kochi port, reported The Hindu.

In a letter to the chairman of the Cochin Port Trust last week, the group said the charges here were much higher than those in Singapore, Colombo or Port of Kelang.

The letter said the Kochi port's method of calculating charges based on the gross registered tonnage meant these were five or six times higher than in the other ports mentioned.
