Mega terminal gets ready to meet surge in demand

The Private-Public-Partnership Advisory Committee (PPPAC) in India cleared the US$818.8 mega container terminal at the Chennai port paving the way for the issue of RFP (request for proposal) for the India's first mega container terminal at Chennai port on build, operate and transfer (BOT) basis, the Hindu Business Line reported.

Considered to be the most ambitious port project, the mega terminal is to be designed to increase the port's annual container terminal handling by four million TEUs from the present capacity of 2.2 million TEUs.
