With the installation of the Radio Frequency Identification Device (RIFD), Chennai can now boast of the most advanced and protected ports in the country, the Deccan Chronicle reported.

RFID will monitor all container trucks and trailers entering the port everyday and it observe the movements and directions of each vehicle. Security officials will be able to locate vehicles moving inside the port and it will also be helpful to resolve traffic congestion inside the port, said Subash Kumar, chairman of Chennai Port Trust (CPT).
