French Customs seized seven million counterfeit articles in 2009, a record figure and up 7.7% on the previous year.
The vast majority of the fake items were discovered following inspections at Roissy-CDG Airport and the ports of Le Havre and Marseille.
French Customs also made significant inroads in tracking down counterfeit goods which had been purchased on-line, with inspections at postal and express operator locations at airports leading to the seizure of well over one million items, a rise of 105.7% on 2008.
