The heads of all major British airlines presented a joint demand to the government for a bail-out over the five consecutive days of air transport havoc in Europe caused by the volcanic ash cloud, the Financial Times reported.
The global air transport industry is losing some US$200 million a day, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the industry body. The airlines are having hard times dealing with hundreds of thousands of their passengers who remain grounded across European airports. |
