Bergen Risk Services, a Norway-based maritime risk consultancy, has produced a map showing the most recent of the spate of piracy incidents in the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean.

Black symbols show incidents occurring in the seven days leading up to 8 April, regardless of type.

Red indicates successful hijackings, while yellow represents armed robberies and armed assaults.

Blue denotes boarding attempts without the use of weapons, and green indicates suspicious approaches.

Meanwhile, Pakistan is to deploy the frigate Khaibar on counter-piracy duties in the Gulf of Aden, under the command of Combined Task Force 151, according to local media reports.

The vessel is on its third tour of duty for CTF 151, after earlier deployments in August to September 2009 and January to February this year.
