German flagship airline Deutsche Lufthansa called on its pilots to cancel a planned four-day strike and return to the negotiating table, adding it would claim damages from labour union Vereinigung Cockpit, or VC, if the walk-out goes ahead, Dow Jones reported. 

         The airline's logistics unit Lufthansa Cargo will also be affected by the strike.
