The newbuilding is named after Mr Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller's late wife, Emma, who passed away in December last year. Just as Emma Mc-Kinney Møller was a person others held in high regard, the vessel EMMA MÆRSK will set her mark. As the world's largest container vessel she will set new standards for safety and environment. Environmentally friendly silicone paint covers the hull of the vessel below the waterline ?C reducing water resistance and cutting the vessel's fuel consumption by 1,200 tonnes per year.
With her 14-cylinder Wärtsilä RT-flex diesel engine which develops 110,000 BHP, EMMA MÆRSK will after delivery enter Maersk Line's worldwide service and thereby together with the other vessels contribute to a global, competitive and flexible transport for the Company's customers. |
